Hypnobirthing explained

So what is hypnobirthing and how can it help me and my baby?

Hypnobirthing has its roots in hypnotherapy which is basically the use of words. Words used in a positive and directive way enabling you to let go of negative thinking and beliefs. For pregnancy and labour it will help you work with your body as nature intended and release any fear and uncertainty. Our mind is very powerful and the most developed amongst mammals and hypnobirthing is about bringing things back to basics, setting aside the thinking and analytical part of your brain and allowing you to follow your instincts and intuitions.

Understanding how the muscles of the uterus work in conjunction with hormones released in labour is an important aspect of hypnobirthing. You will also be taught breathing for labour including visualisation and relaxation techniques.

It is important you practise outside of classes and I will provide you with The Hypnobirthing Book by Katharine Graves which includes an antenatal relaxation MP3 download. Prices are inclusive of all materials.

To provide you with a complete package preparing you for labour, birth and the time afterwards with your baby you can chose to book a course that incorporate topics typically covered by traditional antenatal classes including writing your birth preferences, packing your bags/preparing your home if you are planning a homebirth, the different stages of labour and breastfeeding.

I warmly welcome you and your partner to my classes and encourage birth partners to participate to enable positive support for you and your baby during this very special and exciting time of your life.
